EXHIBITED AT LEAKING FISHTANK, ART OUTREACH SINGAPORE

Contemplating on the sublimity of the unknown sea, [[[water bodies]]] reflects on the anthropocentric tendency to mediate natural experiences through organization; choosing only to encounter the ocean through aquarium glass. Translating this into repetitive gestures, Luna enacts their human will in imposing order onto water. Over multiple days, they oscillate through the comfort of control and the labour of structure; a structure they eventually pry off the wall in a show of cathartic futility.

[[[water bodies]]] consists of 4,200 photo-stickers of an empty aquarium tank, installed and deinstalled over 1 week.

The work speaks on fear and control of the nature and lies on the intersections of performance, sculpture and photography. Each sticker is an image taken of an empty aquarium tank the artist chanced upon on a research trip. Having a fear of the sea that had bee cultivated since their childhood, experiencing an artificially blue body of water in its empty vastness was almost a sublime experience for the artist. [[[water bodies]]] illustrates a futile control over fear and nature. The work is an intersection between photography, performance, and sculpture- stickers are placed in a swimming-pool tile like fashion by hand and a small ruler. Imperfections can be seen upon closer inspection- the repetitive gesture is laborious and obsessive. When the rows are complete, the stickers are taken down and stacked ont op of one another, forming a "block of sea" as their final act of futile control.
